It’s official: Teen Challenge Tasmania has a home!

We are absolutely thrilled to bring you the news that Teen Challenge Tasmania, with the help of countless supporters, has successfully purchased a Launceston CBD building as the home of its continued operations.

Teen Challenge Tasmania is officially located at 90 St John Street, Launceston.

The process wasn’t without drama. At the eleventh hour there was a major hurdle: the provider of the original loan we needed was no longer willing to support the purchase. However, through amazing individuals and funds donated, as well as the flexibility of the owner to extend the settlement date, we were able to secure loans to purchase the property.

After many months of fundraising and negotiations, the last-minute hiccup brought us to our knees, literally. We weren’t sure it was going to happen, but trusted God was in control. The way that everything did eventually fall into place was a testament to how good God is, and how He works.

Thank you.

We are extremely grateful to all who backed our vision, whether through donations, encouragement or prayer. It is a thrill to see how God has used you to achieve His purposes with the acquisition of this property.

The settlement date was August 31 and work has already commenced to renovate the building to suit our purposes. Mobile Mission Maintenance is helping to restore the upstairs space to accommodate our training programs, ministries and projects. The beautiful art deco features will be restored to their original splendour and the renovation includes reinstating a kitchenette, renovating bathrooms and reinstalling the original 1930s theatre seating. We hope to have this all completed by Christmas, and we anticipate it being a space we can hire out to recoup some of the costs.

But first, we want to celebrate and dedicate.

On September 26 at 2pm we are inviting you to join us for a special time of prayer, celebration and dedication. Please join us to give glory to God for his provision and to seek his direction and favour on Teen Challenge Tasmania’s future.

We will use this time to write Bible verses, prayers, prophecies and promises onto the walls before they are painted. This will be a symbolic gesture of the way we always seek to write God’s word into the foundation, the fabric, of everything we do. You could say that this building will have God’s word written into its very walls so that each person who enters will be surrounded by his promises!

Write it in your diary—we would love to have you there. And please be prayerfully considering your own contribution. Pencils will be provided!
