100 Mentors by the End of 2026

Changing lives, one connection at a time

Imagine the difference one caring adult can make in the life of a young person.
Now imagine what 100 committed mentors could do across North Tasmania by the end of 2026.

That’s our vision — and we’re inviting you to be part of it.

Why 100 Mentors?

Right now, too many young Tasmanians are navigating life’s challenges without the support of a trusted role model. Through Connections Mentoring, Teen Challenge Tasmania places caring adults alongside young people in schools, providing friendship, encouragement and hope.

Our goal is simple but powerful:

  • 100 trained and supported mentors

  • 100 young people matched

  • 100 stories of positive change

The Impact of Mentoring

Research shows that young people with a mentor are:

  • More likely to stay engaged in school

  • More confident in their abilities

  • Better equipped to make positive life choices

  • More connected to their community

We see it every week — a student who starts to believe in themselves, a young person who finds hope, a family who sees their child thriving.

How It Works

  • Time Commitment: Around 1 hour per week during school terms (plus travel)

  • Location: School-based mentoring in Northern Tasmania

  • Training Provided: Full training and ongoing support from our Connections Mentoring team

  • You Bring: A listening ear, life experience and a heart to see young people flourish

Who Can Be a Mentor?

You don’t need a specific career background — just a willingness to show up, listen and encourage. We welcome:

  • Retirees

  • Parents

  • Young adults

  • Professionals

  • Community members of all backgrounds
